Gold Canyon Dems meet on April 1
Members of the Gold Canyon Democrats will meet Jason Williams, candidate for Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction, at the club's meeting on April 1. The public is invited to attend.
In 2006, Jason Williams was the Democratic Party nominee for Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction and in the general election received more votes than any other non-incumbent Democrat in the closest of all the statewide races. Jason lives in South Phoenix resident and has spent over 10 years successfully working in educational reform and nonprofit management. He is a political science graduate of Boston College, joined Teach For America (TFA) and taught 6th grade Math and Science in East Oakland. Today, Jason serves as a member of several Boards of Directors and Advisory Committees including Communities in Schools of Arizona, Genesis City, and the College Depot.
Jason believes “there is no wiser investment for our state’s future success than investing in our children today through an excellent public education says Williams on his website www.williamsforarizona.com. It is absolutely critical that we all come together to support our teachers and children.”
Williams will speak at 7 p.m. at the April 1 meeting of the Gold Canyon Democrats, who frequently bring candidates and citizens together to help voters make informed decisions. Founded in 1999, the club meets on the first Wednesday of every month. This month’s meeting will be a dinner meeting at the Open Range Steakhouse, 6030 S. Kings Ranch Road Gold Canyon, AZ. 85218.
"Our goal is to support qualified Democrats for office at all levels," said Carolyn Gordon, the club's chair. "We look forward to hearing Mr. Williams’ views on issues related to Arizona’s public education particularly in light of the state’s financial crisis and cutbacks in educational funding. This is an opportunity for individuals who care about our children’s education to meet Mr. Williams in a social setting.
Seating is limited and reservations are required. Contact Gordon at (480) 671-8570 or send an email to gordon_carolyn@hotmail.com.
